I got this for my daugher who is 12 and very much into fashion. She likes also to draw people so I thought it would help her to picture different styles from past and present. I was not wrong! She loves The World Atlas of Street Fashion, not necessarily all of the styles suit her, but she was very interested to read about them and discover new things. I personally like squarish format of this book and beautiful textured hardcover. The cover image and many others inside are quite eye catching as well. I still see image of the girl with separated, snake like tongue and bright blue woolf eyes. Great book for different generations who like fashion, photography or both.

This is a surprisingly information-filled book - more pages than is typical for a coffee table book. No bad thing - gives you plenty to read... or look at if you just want to look at photos. I asked my son's girlfriend to look through this book because she's much more on top of current fashions. This caused a lot more giggles than I was expecting. On the whole though it's a serious attempt at cataloguing world street fashion and would make a great present for the right person.

Cosmos

An interesting history of street fashion and its evolution through time and across cultures. The book splits by Continent, then by city, and then style. With plenty of pictures and informative text, it is an excellent guide to Street Fashion.

This is a good guide to the street fashions across the globe, featuring many images of the inspired - and the absurd. Nice coffee table book.

An exhillarating book that celebrates the wealth of creativity across the globe, this book is divided up into continents and countries, rather than just by theme. Sometimes, this is a little crude, implying that a particular trend is limited to a particular locale when it actually has a far wider reach, but overall it is a good approach. The photography is stunning and even if you're not particularly interested in fashion, this is just a highly entertaining coffee table book that shows human life in all its richness.

I got this book for my son's 19 yer old girl friend and she was delighted with it. It is a plush, beautifully printed volume presented on very high quality paper and is filled with amazing photographs of fashion (many you will probably be unaware of) from around the globe. Even I (wearily middle aged) found the book an item of interest and an ideal pick up / put down read. An authoritative must have for anyone with an interest in street fashion and its relatively high price tag is totally justified from the quality of both the content and its high end construction. Highly recommended.

This is a book which should appeal to those interested in fashion from the street up, and how the two way process of street influence on designers, and then the industry influencing those who will only buy on-trend, works. I must admit that it is the diversity of human creative expression, and its rebellious, anti establishment individuality which most delights in this book. By the time cap-it-all ism has sucked out the ‘up yours’ gestures street sometimes makes, sanitised and commodity-ised it and sold it back to those who then buy it as a must-have, it becomes less interesting and formulaic. Even if someone has no interest in fashion per se, this is a great browsy coffee table book (rather than cover to cover read) for those who love looking at photographs of ordinary people, from all over the world, expressing their culture and individuality, a celebration of individual beauty. Inevitably, it is a focus on urban, and, personally, I would have liked to have seen much less attention placed on the States (a good third of the book) and Europe, and more on street fashion from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia The accompanying text, something of a dissertation on the influence of pop, film, and politics on fashion, is also of interest
